Communications Coordinator

Responsible to: Communications and Marketing Manager

Starting Salary: $23,000 per year

Hours: Part-time: 20 hours per week with flexibility (please note that some work and meetings will be required to take place MCoS’ office hours which are M-F 9:00 am – 4:30 pm)

Location: Primarily Remote with some in-person required for various events throughout the year – MCoS’ office is location in Regina, SK but our work is province-wide.

The Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCoS), a non-profit provincial organization has an employment opportunity for a strong communications generalist. The Communications Coordinator will assist the Communications and Marketing Manager in creation and execution of communications plans, social media planning and posting, recording marketing analytics, newsletter creation, website management, and the support of other communications needs as assigned. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of taking initiative, reliability, creativity, problem-solving, and responsibility in communications.

Responsibilities:
-Assisting with communications tasks related to the newsletter and creation in Mailchimp;
-Website and digital content management – WordPress, Hootsuite, YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn;
-Basic graphic design in Canva;
-Coordinating and maintaining a series of tools designed to effectively deliver various MCoS communications messages to target groups as required. Tools may include, but are not limited to: newsletters, brochures, publications (electronic/print), website, digital, advertising (print, web, television, radio and other), media advisories, news releases, stories, and surveys;
-Assist in the creation of internal and external communications and campaigns designed to reach target groups with key messages associated with the overarching plans of MCoS;
-Branding: a strong custodian of maintaining the visual identity and branding of MCoS communications materials;
-Other duties as assigned by the Communications and Marketing manager.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:
-Education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and practical application of communications skills and tools – particular experience in non-profit or community-based organizations is an asset;
-Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write, proofread, and edit website and digital content, speeches, stories, reports, presentations, annual reports etc.;
-Independent, energetic, analytical, self-starting, creative, reliable and responsible worker, driven by successful, punctual, and quality outcomes;
-Demonstrated experience with Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress, and social media management (including analytics) and/or eagerness to learn;
-Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365);
-Strong organizational skills and a commitment to professionalism;
-The ability to multi-task, managing timelines and multiple deadlines while being flexible and able to adapt to change and adhere to work priorities;
-Desire to learn new skills, content, and programs;
-Initiative to see what needs to be done within role and take action;
-Demonstrates a proven track record of working harmoniously within teams;
-Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills with demonstrated welcoming, respectful approach to interactions;
-Familiarity with the multicultural community, the issues it faces, anti-racism and the benefits of diversity is a significant asset;
-Advocacy – experience in non-profit or community-based organizations, social issues, community mobilization, campaigns, messaging, and measurements;
-Have the ability to travel in Saskatchewan from time to time, and have a valid driver’s license;
-Be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
